The brain child of John Mandt, Jr. of Stewarts Original Hot Dogs, John came to the Clear Channel Radio group’s VP/GM, Judy Jennings and staff, to develop, build, promote, manage and execute this soon to be annual festival.
The last Saturday in July was chosen for each year’s WV Hot Dog Festival (July IS national hot dog month, you know!) The co-founders wanted a charity that would benefit children in our own Tri-State region of WV/KY/OHIO.

On Saturday, July 30, 2005, the WV Hot Dog Festival was born. The festival raised almost $8000 the first year for the kids.

In 2006, the event’s sponsors and contest participants helped raise just over $10,000! In 2007, with YOUR HELP and GENEROSITY, we raised almost $18,000! ALL THANKS TO YOU AND OUR BUSINESS SPONSORS!

In 2008, you and our valued business sponsors helped us present $18,600 to the kids, while in 2009, the fifth anniversary of the WV Hot Dog Festival, sponsors, festival-goers and contestants for the many contests/activities throughout the day, earned a solid $25,000 donation for the kids in our region battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, in partnership with the new Children's Hospital project at Cabell-Huntington Hospital.

In 2010, thanks to you, contest participants, and our caring business sponsors, we added another $16,000...making our contribution close to the $100,000 mark to help the kids through the CHH Children's Hospital project!

Our 2011 goal is again $25,000. We need you and yours to help us get the word out and to join us for the day, enjoy the activities, participate in contests, and if you are a business owner, we need your event sponsorship support too! Come enjoy the day with us, and help the kids!

All the money raised stays local to help our own children in the Tri-State region.

To do this event and fundraiser each year, we need your help. If you are a business owner, please consider helping sponsor this event, or by giving a tax deductible donation. If you are a family or individual, please plan to attend (bring the kids and the family dog too), participate in the contests, eat some delicious hot dogs, shop our vendors and booths, buy a souvenir t-shirt, and enjoy the entire day…make a donation to the WV Hot Dog Festival before and/or during the event.

Your donation is so very appreciated, and is used to comfort the children and their families throughout the treatments they must endure to get well.
